Privacy Policy

What this site records, what it does not, and how long anything is kept.

This policy sets out what Ring Size Calculator collects, why we collect it, and what we do not do. We have kept it specific rather than exhaustive. A policy you cannot follow is not much use to anyone.

The short version

We record ring size calculations so we can see how the tool is used. We do not collect your name, email, or anything that identifies you. There is no advertising on this site, no advertising trackers, and nothing is sold or shared with third parties for marketing.

What we record when you use the calculator

When you press the calculate button, the site sends a single record to our own server. It contains:

  • whether you entered a circumference or a diameter;
  • the measurement value in millimetres;
  • the circumference that was derived from it;
  • the US ring size that resulted;
  • a short code indicating whether the reading was a close match, between sizes, or outside the normal range;
  • the date and time the record was created.

That is the complete list. It contains no name, no email address, no account, and nothing that identifies you as an individual. Typing in the fields sends nothing — the record is only created when you press the button.

Why we record it

To understand which measurements people bring to the tool, which parts of the size range are most used, and how often readings fall between sizes or outside the chart. That tells us where the guidance needs improving.

How long we keep it

These records are retained for up to 24 months and then deleted. Because they contain nothing identifying, they cannot be traced back to you or removed individually on request.

Server logs

Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, as almost every website does. These usually record the IP address making the request, the page requested, the time, the browser's user-agent string, and the referring page.

The logs exist for security and diagnostics: spotting attacks, debugging errors, and keeping the site running. We do not use them to build a profile of you. Our host keeps them only for its normal retention period. Some laws treat IP addresses as personal data, so we mention them here explicitly.

Rate limiting

To stop automated abuse of the calculator endpoint, the server keeps a short-lived count of requests associated with a hashed form of your IP address. This is held in temporary storage, covers a rolling one-minute window, and is not retained or used for anything else.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies. There is no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to.

Third parties

Advertising

There is none. No ad networks, no advertising trackers, no third-party analytics scripts such as Google Analytics or Meta Pixel. All pages are served from our own server, and the site loads no fonts, scripts or images from third-party domains.

Links out

The footer contains a link to Ko-fi, a third-party service, for anyone who wishes to support the site. If you follow it, Ko-fi's own privacy policy applies to what happens there. We receive no personal information about you from them.

Hosting

The site runs on third-party hosting infrastructure, which necessarily processes requests to the site in order to serve it, as described under server logs above.

Children

This site is a reference tool for ring sizing and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age, beyond what is described above — which contains nothing identifying regardless of who submits it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your personal data, and to complain to a data protection authority.

In practice, the calculation records we hold contain no identifier, so there is nothing to retrieve or erase on an individual basis — we could not locate your records even if asked, because nothing links them to you. If you have a question about server logs or anything else in this policy, contact us and we will respond.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. The calculator endpoint accepts only a small, fixed set of fields, caps the size of what it will accept, and rejects anything else. No account system exists, so there are no passwords to protect.

No system is perfectly secure, and we do not claim otherwise. What we can say is that we hold very little worth stealing.

This policy sits alongside our site terms, which cover acceptable use and liability.

Changes to this policy

If we change what we collect, we will update this page and the review date below. We would rather narrow this policy than broaden it.
